After 68 years underwater, a WWII plane is back to its former glory

Here is an example of a TRUE restoration - using a 100% complete "modestly damaged" P-38F-1-LO 41-7630* with minimal corrosion (magnesium parts were the few to corrode - they were unusable) as the exemplar. ~$2,400,000 restoration cost using 80%-85% of the original parts! P-38E Glacier Girl...

    Modern Jets in WW2/WW1

My preference would be for F-86F Sabres or F9F-8 Cougars. I wouldn't go with any FJ-3/4 Furies because their J65 engines were more finicky than the Sabre's J47 or the Cougar's J48. Both were AIM-9 capable, and they used the same ammo as the US forces' .50 cal & 20mm aircraft guns, thus keeping...

Best post-MiG 21 single engined Soviet/Russian fighter or bomber?

Naaah, the Su-17 wasn't any good. Besides, it was too early - 3D view of a Sukhoj "product R" (Su-17 of the 1949, designation reused): ;)

An ID feature is the triangular brace/fin where the tail boom comes off the aft fuselage... the only H-19/S-55s I've seen in pictures without it are YH-19 developmental airframes.

    Prince of Wales flies

Both the pilot's seat and gunner's seat are equipped with flight controls, as they both are for basic armament controls. Naturally, the pilot's flight controls are more-complete than the gunner's and vice versa for the weapons controls. And I'm sure William could fly the Apache if needed -...

    Prince of Wales flies

He first gained a commission in the British Army after attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in early 2006. After training with both the Army and RAF, as well as the Royal Navy, he formally transferred his commission to the RAF in January 2009, where he flew helicopters in a RAF Search...

Just like any other officer (William was an active-duty officer in the British Army for 3 years, then an active-duty officer in the RAF for 4 years).
