It's getting there. The big bits are done ( a little sanding and touch-up to do) and now it's time for all the little detail parts.

Looking good Bruce. I look to Terry to confirm but I think Johnson's MK392 had the Merlin 66 and therefore did not have the small teardrop blister on the starboard cowl just behind the prop. If true, and you care, it's easily removed with a file.

Yep, the blister was for the Coffman starter, not present on this particular aircraft.

Andy and Terry, Thanks for the info. You guys are a goldmine of useful knowledge. That blister shall disappear tonight, and thanks everyone for their kind words.

Bruce, here's a good reference on that blister and anything to do with Spitfires. I went there to confirm my suspicions.http://spitfiresite.com/2010/04/spit...ch-varied.html

    Johnnie Johnson Spitfire

Hey Bruce, just finished my first Spit recently - a MkI, Tamiya 1/48 scale (must get some pics up on the site) so following your build with interest. Getting some great advice there too; learning a few things myself. Keep up the good work. Look forward to more progress pics and the finished results.

Thanks everybody. Here's a quick update.

    The blister has been removed...

...and the first coat of paint has been applied to the underside.

I am waiting on the proper paint to arrive by mail ( ordered Monday from Roll, shipped yesterday ), but there are plenty of things to work on in the meantime.
