Really looking good Aaron. What color and brand is that yellow chromate? I ask because I found ( quite by accident ) Testors Yellow Zinc Chromate in the 1/4 oz. square bottle at my local craft store and I'm wondering if that is what I see behind the fuselage.

That's what I found to Bruce, and by accident. It's just listed as Chromate yellow though.

That is so cool. It looks to be the perfect shade of yellow chromate. Why the hell can't Testors put it in their Model Master range, and in a 1/2 oz. bottle? The conventional wisdom always seemed to be that nobody produced this color.

Who knows? I got two bottles just in case they quit making it. I may take one to the paint store and get them to color match it for the heck of it.

Now that's not a bad idea at all. Good thinking.

It's probably just flat yellow and a little Zinc Chromate Green.

I've been using that Testors chromate yellow for years, it does look like the perfect shade. Didn't realize it was a secret or I would have let you guys know.

I used to use a chromate yellow from Humbrol, but it was discontinued years ago. Ever since, I've mixed my own, varying the shade (as per the real thing) to suit the requirement. Just use matt yellow, and a spot of green, sometimes a tiny spot of white and, for a more realistic sheen, when needed, a coat of clear semi-matt.

    GEEWIZZZ Glenn.
Thank you Woody. And you to Terry. That info may come in handy if they quit making it. And I hope you can get the fingers operational again.

According to the Testors web sight they still list Zinc Chromate Green in 1/2 oz bottle, product code 1734. it's on my shopping list.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

Agreed! Nothing like a little variance in shades, much more realistic.
