1/48 Spitfire Mk.VIII 79 Sqdn RAAF - Home Country Modern Aircraft/Spitfire Marks GB

    Username: Ozhawk40
    First name: Peter
    Category: Advanced
    Scale: 1:48
    Manufacturer: Hasgawa
Model Type: Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII A58-526 ex MT552
Details: Assigned to RAAF 79 Squadron and coded UP-L and UP-R, but also known as "AVA grog"
    Aircraft Assignment: TBD
    Accessories: Masks
Decals: Aeromaster Aussie Spitfires Part 3 48-779 or Kagero

I've always wanted to do an Aussie Spitfire, and I just don't want to miss out doing one for this GB, so time allowing, I'm going to have a crack at this one. I have two versions of the markings in both Aeromaster and Kagero flavours, so I'll mix n match to get the best overall.

The name is a clever adaption. "AVA Grog" The AVA part stands for Australian Victory Aircraft and was the 3rd donated Spitfire. The Grog part, well you can probably guess what the Aussies were into at the time....

I'm going to enjoy this one, and should be easy to do concurrently with the 22.

Nice one Pete, it's nice to see something from this end of the world.

Sweet nose art! Aren't the Aussies into grog any longer?
    Perhaps I have been mislead.

    Great stuff Peter!
Had considered doing the ICM kit as UP-F 'Hava-Go-Jo' myself, so glad atleast one bird from the squadron will be done.
