It's hard to tell a definite color for the cockpit since the Russians used all different colors depending on what was available.

A few different colors I have seen (while researching my project..hehe..) are

Steel Grey
Light Grey
Blue Grey
Pale Green

The inner surface of the fuselage was covered twice with light-gray enamel "AЭ-9" (AE-9)

Sweet choice Karl. Looking forward to your build. Will join you with Sturmovik soon enough. :D

Nice one Karl. I built the Hobbycraft kit a long time ago and you can hardly even see into the cockpit so I wouldn't be too concerned about it being exactly the right color.

ok made a start on the rata !
i'm waiting for the camera batteries to charg so pics a bit later.

question, any body know the colour of the wheel bays, instructions call for light blue, but am having trouble finding the right shade as it also says light blue for the lower surfaces but gives a different paint number ?

Unfortunately the answer might be really different. As memo serves the light blue colour was AII Goluboy ( FS25466 ) or AMT-7 ( FS25550 ) or A-28m ( FS35250 ). AII blue has not a good match comparing to offered Humbrols. A mix of 50% H89 and 50% H65 should give a good resemblance. AMT-7 was nearly identical to 89, eventually lightened to give a faded paint. A-28m was a bit more yellowish than AMT-7 and, when old, turns to yellow becoming similar to British Sky. A mix of 89 with more or less beige green 90 and/or blue 65 should give a good match. For the AMT-7 and A-28m there was Humbrol 115 offered. But the paint hasn't been produced any longer.
Generally the Light Blue of the wheel bays was the same colour used for painting of undersides.
