Waow, what a cool thread !
I wanna be a part of it ... hum, last post may 2008, let's boost a little the collection.
From "Batailles Aériennes n°32" - Lela Presse - La Guerre d'hiver (Winter war)
Easy I know, much more aircrafts with skis than without, but the choice wasn't easy.

Hope you like them.
I was really disapointed not to find a Morane or Morko-Morane with skis inside this book because tests have been done during this period, if somebody could find a picture ...

Another set 100% russian.
Pics are from "Le I-16 Polykarpov" - Collection Profils Avions n°4 - Lela Presse - 300 pages - Authors : international collective.
The first one is the second prototype of the TsKB-12 named TsKB-12bis, this one is engined with a US Curtiss Cyclone R-1820-F2 instead of the M-22 Gnome et Rhone Jupiter. The propeler is a 2 blades Hamilton Standard (the third prototype will recieve a 3 blades one).

The second is a nice I-16 type 9 (n°9211) optimised for ground attack and developed by Borokov.

The third is the I-16 type 17 equiped with 20mm canons and skis during winter tests 1939.

The last (but not least) is the prototype of the I-180Ye-3 during winter tests 1940.

All Polykarpov series of prototypes recieved skis as any russian aircraft.

To close this serie I 've found some detailed or close views skis photos.
This could help some modeler or simply give information to viewers.
The I-16 type 4 n°123906 on trestles to test skis retractable system.

A close view of a I-16 type 17 belly showing the R-32 skis when up, the drag was minimum.

To finish, this I-16 type 10 unlucky landing allows us to see the under side of the skis.

Hem, I really worry about the size of my pics, must I resize them according to page size before hosting or does it fit ok with the automatic resize ?
Tell me please.
Hope everybody had a cool week-end.
