S/L Bob 'Spud' Spurdle's Tempest

Hi all,

I'm looking for any information, especially the serial number, that anyone might have of Spurdle's Tempest V when he was CO of 80 Squadron. I know from his autobiogtaphy that he had a regular aircraft coded 'S' but other than that I have no details.

Well, better late than never. Spurdle's Tempest for most of his time with 80 Sqn was W2-S, EJ687. No photos have come to light and the best ref photos are a set of stills taken from IWM film, shot at Volkel on 11 Oct 44 which show W2-B, G, K and P taking off. They appear in 2nd TAF, Vol 4, p.593.
