A6M5 Challenge

I understand that in the last days of WW2 a number of M5s were painted a blue grey color due to lack of paint in Japan. Is there a picture of one of these aircraft, or record of the colors used.

Have you got any picures of Bf 109s from III Gruppe JG 52 dating summer 1941 ? I've got only one photo of 109 Es deployed in Romania for the defense of oil fields near Konstanza. Especially I'm interested how Gruppenkommodore's plane looked like. Thanks in advance.

Hail Columbia?

Im looking for a picture of the B-24D "Hail Columbia", S/N 42-11825 of the USAAF 9th Air Force, 98th Bombardment group. Particulary one that shows a decent picture of the nose art. I've looked quite a bit and was wondering if anybody could help me out here. Thank you very much

Looking for pictures of 50 Squadron Hampden's and 97 Squadron Lancaster's, all contributions gratefully received. I am researching the experiences of my father who served with both of these squadrons.
Looking forward in anticipation of results. Thanks, D.

Sarge -

These are vidcaps from a DVD I got the other day that included an intro film made at Wright Field for wannabe test pilots when they started school. The sequence was a pan from nose to tail. The aircraft was at Wright (before it was renamed) and the only jet on the field that was in the film was a P-59. The sample test flights shown were in P-39s and P-51s primarily and the date range for the films on the DVD is 1944-1958 but there are no dates in the film itself so I can't precisely date it. My guess would be postwar '40s.

Hope they help. You might be able to get them to line up well enough to photoshop them into a panorama. I haven't had time to try it yet. If nothing else, you can get a good look at the forward right side of the fuselage.

I made myself too curious by mentioning it so I did a q&d photomerge and combined 1,2,3, and 5 into one pic. It didn't turn out too badly as far as giving you a look at the whole side.

I resized the pic because I didn't know if it would automatically resize or not - the original is fairly large - and I didn't want the mods unhappy with me.

If you want the original let me know and I'll email it to you. It's about half a meg or so.

I have some photos of some of the aeroplanes at Hendon, including close up detail pix of the Spitfire 1a & V and the Stranraer as well as a few others. If any one wants to share these I am quite willing to email them to them.

Hi,Have just been trying to find a photo of the old "Handley Page Hampden",My wifes Dad was a Flgt/Sgnt Wog or was it Wag.With the RNZAF after training in Canada. He was stationed at Turnberry Scotland training in a "Hampden" to be used as a Torpedo Bomber.Unfortunately after a training mission, they were about to land with two other "Hampdens" when they came into a thick mist on their side of the runway. The Pilot had to go around again and slammed into a Hill just out of Turnberry, all the crew being killed.I am new to the site and haven't been able to find a "Hampden,Forgive me if I have missed it.Thoroughly enjoying you site, having been in Liverpool during the war.Sitting on top of and Air Raid Shelter with my mate,in a couple of old deck chairs Great till a 3.7 Anti Aircraft gun and Mobile searchlight decide to do some shooting and Lighting about 100 yards away from us.Even at 11 we knew the meaning of discretion before valour.A few nights later all the back yards were full of M/C gun bullets and on top of the shelters.Best Regards Ken B
