Good afternoon -

The book 'Junkers Ju 52 - Model Fan Encyclopaedia No. 4' includes drawings of Ju 52s that were used as test beds for the DB 600, DB 601 and Junker Jumo 213 engines. The test engines replaced the central BMW 132. I've contacted the publisher and have provided photos of the DB 600 and DB 601 and have requested a photo of the Ju 52/3m with Jumo 213 engine; however, no response as yet.

I've posted a number of photos of Ju 52s with interesting engine installations including the DB 600 and DB 601. I would very much appreciate it if someone would post a photo of the Ju 52 with Jumo 213 and any other atypical engine installation in service with Luftwaffe, Lufthansa or other airlines circa WWII.

Very interesting. Sorry, I cannot be of service. But I assume the DB600 tests didn't go so well ... it's crashed!

Good evening Gentlemen -

I am glad you found the Ju 52 photos interesting; I've posted a few more for your viewing pleasure. :cyclops:

Also, I've found a couple of photos on the web showing a British Airways Ju 52/3m however, the photos are watermarked. Does anyone have photos of British Airways Ju 52s that are unmarked?

Referring to the Ju 52 with DB 600 in the first post; actually collapsed landing gear due to hard landings were not uncommon with earlier Ju 52 versions. Late variants were fitted with beefed up struts. Note that this aircraft is being operated without engine covers on the front of the BMW radials.

Very nice pics. I have seem many of those but have not seen the ones with 600 and 601 engines until now. Thankyou for posting them.

I can not help you at the moment but will search and around and see if I can find what you are looking for.

Hello Spitfireking -

Thanks very much for your efforts in tracking down the Ju 52 with Jumo 213 engine and for the links to the preserved Ju 52. I've posted another image below which may be of interest:

Found another photo of an Italian Ju 52 with atypical engine installation....however, the cowlings don't look like Piaggios to me. I'm guessing maybe these are the BMW high altitude engine with 3-blade prop.

Any input about the engine type and ultimate fate of this aircraft would be appreciated.
