    The aircraft on top- PBY, probably a -5. The bottom pic looks like a C-46

    Certainly looks like a C46 'Commando' tail unit.

    Yup, I agree. Definitely not the same plane unless someone did a major custom job.

    Gentlemen,
    Thanks so much. I recently discovered that a late uncle served in the Air Corps. His family is pursuing paperwork to validate his time/service. I thought that I would run the pictures up the pole to get an idea of the birds he was associated with. You guys make my job a lot easier. -vm

    To expand on Joe's (Flyboy's) comment, the top one is an early Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina. Only the -5A and -6A had undercarriage (-5's and -6s were without), but the -6A (and later -5A's) would have been fitted with the 'eyeball' nose turret.
