Hello All,

I would like to build a Mosquito XIX flown by Squadron Leader (at this time) B. A. Burbridge during 1944 in 85 Sqn.
I read somewhere on the web that the serial of his "VY-Y" flown from June to early November 1944 could be MM645...
Have you any information to confirm (or not) please ?
Thanks in advance :)

As memo serves he used to fly planes either with B or V letter. The Mosquito MM645 ( VY-Y ) was transfered from the 85th Squadron to the 169th one ( VI-U ) when the unit got NF.XXX. The serial MM645 indicates Mk.XIX what can be found in many references.

I took my "old books", here is that I found about planes used by B. A. Burbridge to claim victories
- Havoc II VY-C (Do217 prob.) June 1942
- Mosquito XVII VY-Y (Me410), VY-M (Do217, Ju88 ), VY-B (Ju188, Me410) February, March, April 1944
- Mosquito XIX VY-K (Ju88 prob.), VY-C (Do217 dam.), VY-Y (MM645 ?)(Ju188x3, V1x3, Ju88x6, Bf110), VY-N (Bf110, Ju88 ) June->November 1944
- Mosquito XXX VY-Z (Ju88, Bf110), VY-P (MV546)(Bf110), VY-X (Ju88 ) December 1944, January 1945

Here is shot of Burbridge's logbook ( I found via the net ) from November 1944 includes his four kills over Bochum, western Germany... most of records there indicates the Mossie VY-Y as a mount he flown in that time. But also X,N,N,G and S

Hello,

I know, this is an old post :p
But I found this info: 04-NOV-1944, MM629, VY-Y

Incident de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito NF Mk XIX MM629, 04 Nov 1944

This aircraft was repaired and then sent to 157 Sqn.
I try to contact 85 Sqn Association but impossible to create an account. My post about it here: 85 Sqn Association

Other info I would like to know regarding my project:
- Camo scheme => MSG overall, with Dark Green disruptive upper surfaces ? (no night undersurface)
- Dull Red codes (30") and serials
- Probably Bullnose radom (I think)
- Maybe invasion stripes on the underside at this date (September/October 1944)

I think the Tamiya kit 61075 (Mosquito NF Mk.XIII/Mk.XVII ) is the best basis for this project, am I right ? :)

TIA ;)
