    He-111s in the BoB?

    Another Battle of Britain request:

Pictures too if there are any...

I am also struggling with the lower gondola on the H, H1, H3, H6, etc - there seems to be some confusion about the number of guns and windows, with some drawings showing a forward facing gun/window on the H and H1, and others showing it 'blanked off'

    Hello Clave,

Concerning the He 111 H. I think the "H" is the mark of the bomber variant.Simply H series. So the "H" didn't exist as a separate type of the bomber, I think. The H series started with H-1 variant. The H-3 variant ( also P-4 one) was equipped with two additional MG15 machine guns just in the front window of the bottom gondola. Also there were added two more MG15s for the fifth additional crrew memeber. His place was between the top and bottom gunners. These two MG15s were mounted in the last windows of the fuselage sides.Hopping it can help a little I attached a few drawings from AJ-Press book "Monografie Lotnicze" no.12 about He 111.

    Good info thanks!

I think I know what to do now - I will continue with the current drawing - the H-1, and then convert it to an H-3, which seems to be a more common version...

    Oh.I have forgotten,

During BoB the H and P variants were the main ones. I don't have datas on which type was used by units individually. But here are units of Luftflotten used during the battle.

    Luftflotte 2 : I,II,III/KG1 , I,II/KG4 , I,II/KG26 , I,II,II/KG53 , KGr.126
    Luftflotte 3 : I,II,II/KG27 , I,II,II/KG55 , KGr.100

Ah, that is handy - I have been looking for photos and found some KG1 ones, and I think there's enough visible evidence to have a good guess at H-1, H-3, H-6 etc... at this stage I only need one aircraft, and any others are just a bonus.

The pressure is on now, so starting tomorrow I have to dig in and draw like hell - 3 views of:

    Spitfire: all done
    Bf-109: all done
    Defiant: profile done
    Blenheim:
    Gloster Gladiator: profile done
    Fairey Fulmar:

    Junkers 87: profile done
    Junkers 88:
    ME110:
    HE 111: profile 1/2 done

    Ah, those are good too.

I have been doing the top view of the Stuka today, and also top and left views of the MG-15 for use in the Stuka and He-111 (and others)

Modified slightly to fit better with the drawing in the Stuka thread:
