Info on lj-3?

My uncle has a military version of a piper cub? I don't know how old it nor have any pics of it to compare.I got a chance to work on it a time or two.I can remember it was made of fabric and still had cables for flaps and a very basic insterment panel.My uncle sereved in the AF.My family is all AF.does anyone have any information on this aircraft?

yes this is the plane he had.I remember tighening the landing gear with a come-along.It was alot of work.With the fabric you had to walk along the ribs of the plane or your foot would fall thru.
