Information required - H.E. Maudlsay & 50 sqn

Hi - My husband is keen to find the code letters for H.E. Maudslay - for the time he served just before the Dams raid in 1943. At the time he was with 50 sqn at Skellingthorpe.[/COLOR]Also the colour scheme of the plane if possible.

He has just brought a flying Lancaster model and wishes to paint it in Henry Maudslays lancaster colour scheme and code letters for the time just before the dams raid. No able to paint it in the AJ- Z scheme due to the plane not a Dambuster lancaster.

Would be grateful if anyone out there can help or point us in the direction of the information from somewhere else.

The squadron codes were VN. I'm unable to provide an individual code letter or serial, but it might be possible to find this from a search of the Squadron's records, via the RAF Museum and National Archives. Note though, that pilot's/crews were not neccessarily assigned a permament aircraft, although they would use the same one whenever possible.
