Marine Pilot Missing In Action From WWII Is Identified

Can anybody find out for me what the registration of the F-4U Corsair is,this plane where maybe shutdown on his way back to his base?
The pilot his name is Maj.M.R.McCrown Jr. US MArine Corps, of Charleston, SC.
He was return from a combat mission over Rabaul, New Britain, Papua New Guinea on January 20,1944.
The plane was found in 1991.
