Number of Fw 190s Produced

Hello. I'm looking for the number of Fw 190s, all models, produced. I ve found 19 500, 20 000 and 20 000+, but I'm sure somebody on here can give me a more accurate number. I know that the number is sketchy, but I'm doing a project for school on the Luftwaffe, so I'd like to know which is the most accurate. Thanks!

In Peter Caygill's book is stated 18 000 Fw190s and Ta-152s including prototypes. But the number is estimated only because many old aircraft frames were re-built and as new planes were returned to the service.

Wojtek's right, mate. Many airframes which were written off for whatever reason were refurbished and returned to the production line to help speed up the production process. These machines seem to have retained their original Werk nummer, causing some confusion with identification.
Most production figures I've seen range from the 18,000-20,000+ mark you mentioned, and to be honest a rough estimate is probably as close as you'll get to the actual figure for the above reason, and incomplete documentation due to bombing and deliberate destruction of documents.

I wish I had projects like that when I was at school!

Yeah, well, it's a bonus project that will add 5% to your overall mark and it just has to be something related to the Grade 12 Social Studies/History curriculum. which is economics and 20th Century History. It's pretty cool. Thanks again guys!

No worries!

Maybe you could post your project as a thread when it's done?
I'm sure it'd be of interest to a few people.

I certainly will! I hope to have it done within the week, but I actually have 3 weeks to do it, so I may use some of the other time. It's Spring Break right now, so it's a good time to do it as I have no other commitments.

According to a postwar collection of german aircraft built during World War II, made by ex Luftwaffe staff members, states 20.001 Fw 190 of all types as new built aircraft. 209 of them are listed as Umbau (rebuild aircraft) in 1944/1945, most probably A-series rebuilt into D-series. 3.665 aircraft are listed as repaired- these numbers may also include A-series repaired and converted into F-series ground attack or G-series fighter-bombers.

LuftArchiv.de - Das Archiv der Deutschen Luftwaffe

A more detailed breakdown, all new built aircraft:
A-1: 102
A-2+A-3: 952
A-4: 905
A-5: 675
A-6: 783
A-7: 625
A-8: 5102
A-9 611

B-1: 5

F-1: 18
F-2: 270
F-3: 432
F-8: 4346
F-9: 147

G-1: 50
G-2: 625
G-3: 550
G-8: 83

D-9: 670

Data missing: 12/1943 (A-6 production, about 200 aircraft), 12/1944 (~1200) and 2/1945 to 5/1945 (~1500).

Also a nice site with detailed german aircraft production plans and deliveries of January 1944 to March 1944: Luftwaffe in Norway
