rare allied birds

Hi! i think the requests belong to this section,i have a few.
i'd like to know the characteristics (especially highest speed, production numbers, range, armament, crew, service) maybe losses of following ac, and if possible, pictures both in air or water(since many of them are seaplanes).im thankful for any info and pic

-the Saro Lerwick and London
-the Vickers Vildebeest
-the Supermarine Stanraer and Sea Otter
-the Westland Whirlwhind (i like this plane a lot,but not much info about it.i know it been designed specially for the useageof the peregrine engines looking similar to the mossie and it supposed to have the same objectives.but why isnt it that known, and why only 114been produced?i am confused because some sources say it een a bad aircraft and the peregrine engines suffered of unreliability and weaknesses, other say the plane at all werent that bad and even succesful in the short operation time.so i ask you, experts )

RE the whirlybird she was a fantastic design and wicked fast for her day, she could have been on of the greats of the war but it was the engines that let hher down but no she didn't do too badly in the ops she did perform........

Do you know how I just got those pics? I typed in Westland Whirlwind into Yahoo! and pressed images. You can do the same and I am sure you will have lots of pics of the aircraft.

Well Wikipedia actually sucks for information. It is good for a quick reference but it is not reliable to say the least.

Me I get my data from books that I own and from the internet.

I have been interested in WW2 aviation all my life. Aviation has been a part of my family. My father flew Hueys in the US Army and I crewed Blackhawks for the US Army stationed in Germany. I am an aircraft mechanic as well, liscensed by the FAA.

I just love WW2 history, having grown up in Germany and that is why I love WW2 aviation so much.

that's nothing, you wanna get yourself over to the aircraft identification thread, post the most obscure aircraft you can find that no one will ever guess, and it will be guessed correctly by one of two members in no time at all...........
