along with my aircraft clocks and instruments I have a small (but growing) collection of WW2 issue pilot/navigator watches. (I have some other vintage pilot watches but they are not 'issue' watches).
The RCAF and USAAF watches have almost identical Waltham movements and I removed the balance from the more common A-11 to get the hard to find RCAF watch running. (I later bought a NOS balance for the A-11).
I included the 1956 Omega because the movement was made in 1943.
In 1956, WW2 RAF Omega & Longines 6B/159 watches re-cased in larger stainless, waterproof cases and had black faces and white hands fitted. My 1956 6B/159 is S/N 120.
I'd like to get WW2 Luftwaffe and japanese pilots watches but they are very expensive, I'll have to be content with what I have for the moment.
I also have some WW2 navigator's stopwatches, I'll do another post soon,
cheers,
-Flightpath
