Shown here is P-47D Thunderbolt, 226637/'VM:P',
Kokomo, of 551st FTS/495th FTG, 'acquired' by Maj. Gen. William Kepner, Commanding VIII Fighter Command. This distinctive green-nosed P-47D moved home from Atcham 'Station 342', Shropshire, to Bovingdon 'Station 112', Herts. and then, when Bill Kepner took command of the 2nd Division, it went to Hethel 'Station 114', Norfolk.
