My Grandmother (Mamau) used to have a little house just outside the Birmingham Alabama airport. It was (and is) both a civil and military use airport. Planes would come over her house everbit that low. I used to love standing outside the house watching all the 727s, 737s, F-4s and F-101s take off or come in to land.

Needless to say, the airport bought the whole neighborhood and demolished a hundred houses or so because of noise regulations. Man, as you can imagine, the whole house would shake evertime one flew over and I remember having to suspend conversations until they passed. Good times.

they made a difference in the world. But, the [U.S.]
    Marines don't have that problem."
