Carrier Crashes

Here's a great B&W short showing some crashes. Great footage of Wildcats and check out the Corsair at the end!

I don't recall seeing this one posted before, if so, then my apologies!

See it here: YouTube - Hit The Deck: Aircraft Carrier Crashes

No, I sure wish I did, though!

Whoever made it added a much later jet crash at the end, which was out of place with all the earlier propeller types. (still a horriffic crash)

They say it's one of the most dangerous jobs to be on the deck of a carrier. Having met a few guys that did it, and hearing the stories they have told, I have a ton of respect for those crews.

I've always been told you really don't land on a carrier, it's more of a "controlled crash".

It is still rated as THE MOST DANGEROUS JOB bar none. Those guys and gals lay it on the line every day, day in and day out.
