Good video of the MiG-29 start-up with the intakes closed. Take a look around the airfield. 1m tall weeds on the taxiways, airplanes parked in weeds, weeds growing between the pavement cracks...

No wonder they have to close the intakes for ground operations.

I also note that this guy had full run of the terminal airspace. Flight time must be a scarce commodity. And this is the first time that I have seen Russian carrier ops with more than one deck crew. And I think I even saw a standby SAR helicopter in one shot. Bravo.

Since I know nothing about jets.....is the MiG-29 worth anything? Good plane? Overrated?

Depends upon the scenario. In a WVR guns only? Probably hold its own given equals sticks.
