| Theres a thread around here of allied aircraft in German and Japanese markings. When the Japanese captured the Phillipines they got a bunch of US aircraft. They also picked up some in the Pacific. There's a picture here somewhere that I put up of three B-17's in Japanese markings flying over Mt Fiji. There are quite a few websites that cater to captured aircraft. Charles

| "Shooter" ![]() | There is an out of print book, Strangers in a Strange Land by Hans Henri Stapfer that is out of print, but can still be found used. There are some details that are a little sketchy about the actual aircraft loss (his versions differ from the official group associations and official records in some cases), but there are some good gems of info and some amazing photos in the book. I did a presentation on "Captured Eagles" at the museum a number of years ago and still have the document somewhere. Here is one of the slides I prepared for it.

| The Typhoon looks ok in LW markings from that angle. Actually the P-40 doesnt look that bad. If you consider the RAAF roundal on the P 40s the size/diater was not a hell of a lot different.

| In war you also lose aircrafts so things like this happen...it does look strange...
