| B-17 Texas Raiders Quick question about the engines currently fitted to the 'Raiders'. I always thought that the standard motor for the 17G was the Wright Cyclone, but a certain well known aviation magazine is reporting that she's fitted with four 'fully-cowled Pratt and Whitney R-1820 Twin Wasps'. With the Twin Wasp being a twin row radial and of longer overall length (prop hub to back of crankcase) would there be CoG issues / centre of thrust issues...and could the pilots have their windows open with the prop disc looking like its in-line with them ? Totally showing my ignorance here, are there any other airworthy 'Forts with this same engine configuration ?

| First I've heard of a Fort with P&W engines Gary. What magazine had that information? If it's true, Texas Raiders might be the first B-17 since the Model 299 to be powered by Pratt & Whitneys (R-1690s). TO

| It's in the Feb 09 edition of Flypast on page 6. I have to say that the prop line...no props fitted at the moment...looks to be directly in line with pilot / co-pilots opening windows
