Country: | Perhaps the question of the best WWII aircraft would be best broken down into different categories? And maybe years? I think there are too many variables and differences in roles to pin the best award to any one plane.

As stated earlier, there's a lot more to military aviation than shooting down other aircraft and dropping bombs....

Country: | If you read most of the thread, this has nothing to do with favorites. My favorite WW2 aircraft is the P-38 as well but it was not the best all-round aircraft...

After a day working on that thing you were walking around at a 30 degree list.

Country: | Back in the 80's we sent a C47 down to Peterson AFB I believe and it broke down but they got spare bits needed from the one in a museum there very humbling
