Life's goal is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body. But rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out and broken, shouting "Holy cr*p, WHAT A RIDE !!"

I don't know how the pilots felt, but I never had a moments worry landing on an icy runway in a P-3B Orion/Electra. They were great winter, foul weather airplanes. But of course that was always with three correctly functioning gear. Great pilot, good airplane.
