| On this day, November 2, 1944 On this day November 2, 1944, the 91st Bomb Group sent 36 B17's to Merseberg. 15 of the 36 crews failed to return. A day I will never forget. Click on merseberg

| Sam - interesting that the 91st from Bassinbourn and the 355th/2SF from Steeple Morden - sister airfields two miles apart - had about the same number of missions and the same number of a/c lost - of course the 47 and 51 didn't have a crew of 10. Some more pics for your website. the last pic was the aftermath of Jan 1, 1945 crash of 91st BG ship on 354FS/355FG A and C flight hardstand whicj killead all the B-17 Crew, destroyed or damaged 7 Mustangs and seriously wounded a couple of ground crewman.. Warm Regards, Bill Marshall |

| Sam I am actually doing up a huge article on this battle from some 20 years of research. the Two Sturmgruppen of JG 3 and JG 4 attacked like Black knights from the rear. All hell broke loose with both US heavies and heavy Fw 190's falling from the air. I do not need to tell you this as you already know about your particular day

| just a small notation , the date recalls a very bloody battle in both day and air over the reich. the 91st bg lost 13 B-17's and the 457th which was attack by SturmFw's of JG 4 lost at least 10. the 91st was attacked by Fw's of JG 3. II./JG 3 flying 109's and JG 27 the same were hit hard by roving 8th AF Mustangs and slaughtered
