Erla haube

I've noticed that some late Bf 109s had a thin red line painted diagonaly on their erla haube canopy. Can anyone explain the significance of this line?

It was a reference line when dive bombing, maybe?

Stukas had several lines, one for each angle, on the port side glazing.

Exactly, In 109 it indicated the highest possible angle of dive bombing.
