| Heinkel He 111 Z1 Have been thinking about the He111 Z1 and have got a few questions you guys may know the answer to. The He 111 Z1 was made by mating two 111 airframes with a common wing between fitted with three engines. I believe only a handfull where made with the intention of using them to haul the Me 321 Gigant into the air. What was the system for controling the Z1 ?. was it a similar layout to the Twin Mustang where either pilot could control the A/C, in which case did it require two complete crews to fly. Was one side of the unit designated as a master with full secondary controls fitted to operate the engines / control surfaces (must have been a bit cramped with all the axtras required). Or, did the two pilots have to be incredibaly skilled to work in unison...ie, throttling up to take off power, counteracting the swing on T/O, both applying inputs to turn around corners etc etc. Was the horizontal tail section 'joined in the middle' or did each fuselage retain its own tail feathers. If this is the case where there issues with the units (fuselages) twisting during flight and the resultant difficulties in controlling them. What where the performance figures like compared to a standard He 111. Was there a marked increase in speed / armament load (bomb carriage capability). In fact, was there an intention to create a 'super bomber' with a greater bomb load to use operationally.

| Saw a model of this go on e-bay last week, cheaper than buying a single He 111 model!
