Italian Series 5 Encounters

Hello folks, this is my first post here!

Anyway, my curiosity got the better of me and have been wondering whether there were any documented encounters between the Hawker Typhoon/Tempest and any of the Italian series 5 fighters or between any of the late Russian fighters and the Italian series 5 fighters.

I'd appreciate your answers. Thanks in advance...

Hi oldcrow and welcome aboard. I think the Italian Series 5 fighers were phenominal and have never been given the credit they truly deserved. The most data I can find on them were the Germans tool over a number of them when Italy fell and used them in the defense of Berlin.

You might find some data on an older discussion:

Hello
I think that that the use of at Re 2005s in defence of Berlin is a myth, at least according to a new booklet of the type. Those used by LW stayed in Italy, that was shown for ex in damage reports of the planes, say 3 were damaged in USAAF bombings of a a/f and a couple in flying accidents and in streght returns.
