Rocket and P-51

Were rockets used on P-51, during WWII in europe theater ? I know that most P-51 used for as fighter and P-47s were used for groud attack in the europe. I believe that P-51 used rockets against Japanese targets at pacific.

P-51 used the tube launched rockets. 5" (127mm) if I recall correctly in 3 cell launchers.

It seems like a kinda odd decision doesn't it to not use P-47 for what it did best?

In the Pacific they used twin zero length launching stubs with 5 rockets under each wing.

They also used 2.75inch rockets in 3 cell "christmas tree" launchers. I believe these were mostly for anti-armor role.
