Soccer War (w/ WWII Aircraft)

Here is a link to a ditty about the so-called "Soccer War". Although it is not WWII (our favorite war), it does feature the Corsair And P-51 (F-51). Some of you may have read about it but if not....

An interesting article, but for the life of me I can't figure out why the authors, who obviously went to great lengths to present all the details they could gather, would also say something so terribly wrong as "... FG-1D Corsairs (a version of the F-4U-4 built by Goodyear), ..."

The article also give detail about how El Salvador acquired their planes (despite the embargo) but doesn't mention how Honduras acquired their aircraft.

Good Article. I have been to El Salvador once with my family. My mother has several relatives there. A poor country, after long years of civil war, lots of crime, but still has lots of able people, and the beachs are really nice, surfers like them a lot.

It sounds like was a pretty bad defeat for the El Salvador Air Force. I wonder how many El Salvadorians admit to this. But for a small Air Force of 12 planes, losing 4 pilots is bad, really bad.
