As a young child all of 8 or 9 years old, I read Capt. Ted Lawson's book of the same title having checked it out of the library on what seemed a continuous basis.

It was only a few years ago that a guy at the local VFW passed who was one who was working on modifying those planes at McClellan before they left for the Pacific.

Great story of courage.

I read it when I was 10.
