Country: | I don't think so, the Amerika bomber version was manned but he wouldn't have had much of a chance to jump out and even if he did he would have landed very close to a nuclear explosion

| IMHO, the Fairey Battle was one of the worst aircraft, at the time of it's deployment.....perhaps it was the WORST decision, to continue to use it when they did, as they squandered the lives of valuable aircrew when they were most needed.....
Others may say the Boulton Paul Defiant, but I feel they did make a valuable contribution, particuarly to the initiation of British Nightfighting...
If they'd had an escort, they could've created some real damage during the daylight Blitz by coming alongsides the Luftwaffe bombers and letting-strip with the quad Brownings....I've always wondered how they would've performed with a Griffon and sensible wing guns too....
You can see what they were thinking now with that ''Lycaster''......

| Take a look at the Curtiss S03C Seamew. Admiral Halsey had them removed from fleet duty and replaced by the earlier, and proven Curtiss SOC Seagull biplane, the plane the Seamew was meant to replace. The SOC was the only USN non utility class biplane to see continuous service in all theaters during wwii. |
