| Nope, sorry Wojtek! True buddy. I think that maybe O scale/1/43 is the best, at least as close as you can get to 1/48...

| Some of the same pics have inspired me Jan; those, and memories of walking around Rheinsehlen, back in'73, where JG26 , and others, were once based. You'll find that the (relataively) cheap model railway trees for conifer types, similar to the ones I used, will work well for 1/48th scale, being tall enough. They can easily be enhanced, and cost around £1 to £1.50 each. Also, the trees in your pics, from the birch 'family', are fairly easy to make. The small diorama I'm planning will be France, 1944 (possibly '43), with a JG26 FW190A, some figures, and maybe a Citroen in sand and green camouflage, as a Luftwaffe car, and possibly a truck. Was going to start that, and some with buildings, for the Diorama Guide, but something called a Group Build seemed to get in the way.......

| Apart from a lot of trees, given that you're aiming for 1/48th scale (?), that's going to be about 5 feet by 2 feet at least! Holy moly!!

| Would be an interesting thing to do...! Now, which JG? Who else besides JG26 operated from road bases like this? As long as there's a "13" to fit in there, any JG will do me.....Late '109, '190A,F or G or D.

| That 'road base' could very well be Reinsehlen, but there were a number, which looked like clearings in a forest, with a road running across it. The latter was a hard runway, with the taxi tracks around the edge of the 'clearing', running off onto 'dirt' tracks in the forest, where the dispersals were. Some of the French bases were similar, such as Guipavas, and others would utilise the nearby woods, copses etc, with the taxi tracks leading to the airfield itself. If it will help, I still have a NATO map used on a big exercise in Germany, in '73, which shows Reinsehlen, which I can copy for you.
