    help with identification

first, hello to all on this forum.

This is my first post so apologize for possible errors and my english.

I found this part of the engine in the yard and all I know is that it is passed from German airports at the end of ww2.I would like to know what is the engine and from which aircraft?Cylinder seems very large for a small aircraft?I appreciate any attempt...

    Hi,
It looks like it came off a BMW 132 used on the Junkers JU52.

    Cheers,
    Sander

Yep, wanted to say the same thing. Also used in many other types, so fairly common at the time.

Also the bore of the cylinder measured on your picture +/- matches the bore of the BMW132 (155,6 mm).
Here is the list of A/Cs that used this engine. I´ve found it by quick search on I-net:
    Arado Ar 196
    Arado Ar 197
    Blohm & Voss Ha 140
    Blohm & Voss BV 141
    Heinkel He 114
    Heinkel He 115
    Henschel Hs 123
    Junkers Ju 160
    Junkers Ju 52
    Junkers Ju 86
    Junkers W34

...in memory of my friend Joe Owsianik, a former right waist gunner from B-17G, 42-97159 from 2ndBG 20th Sqdn, who was forced to bail out on Aug. 29th, 1944 over my country. Joe passed away on Novemer 1, 2010.

just to add as an interesting

This part of the engine brought my grandfather 1944 from airfield ilandza, vojvodina, yugoslavia. This airport was once under attack.

    Mission #: 75
    Date: 8 September
    Target: Ecka A/F
    Mission Type: SF (Strafing)
Fifteenth AF: 354 B-17's and B-24's escorted by P-38's hit railroad bridges at Brod and Belgrade and M/Ys at Sarajevo and Nish. 77 P-51's strafe A/Fs at Ecka, Petrovgrad, Ilandza, and Alibunar.
