| Radial oil? Shell/Phillips I enjoy the honor of 'piloting' our wind generator, a Pratt & Whitney R2800-CB3 18-cylinder radial. I recently encountered great difficulty finding Aeroshell W120 oil due to very high demand from the fire dept. A lot of old radials were fighting fires. We have always used the same Aeroshell W120. Phillip's recently introduced a multigrade oil. X/C 25W-60 is marketed to owners of old radials. Has anyone tried it? http://www.phillips66lubricants.com/...Brochure_5.pdf Thanks, Dē |

| Don't use a multi viscosity oil in a large radial engine. Stick to the W120 or 120. Read the information in the link. http://www.precisionengines.com/pdf/oilBulletin.pdf Also remember in Aircraft engines with silver bearings you DONOT want any oil with zinc additives in it. Oh and since you are in CA I see no reason to even consider a multi grade oil. Its not like it freezes there. Last edited by engguy; 09-27-2008 at 05:32 AM. |
