It is pretty clear that the turbo-supercharger was very nearly a jet engine -
all that was lacking was replacing reciprocating engine exhaust with a gas
generator. The hard part of a jet engine, the high speed whirly bits and high
temperature turbine wheel, had been brought to a wonderful degree of perfection in the turbo supercharger!
