I'm not quite sure why is Wurger's text about the captured Bf 109F there.
The a/c in this photo is Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6/R6 WNr. 15270 ,ex yellow 14 of 6./JG 53, captured at Comiso, Italy, summer 1943. Flown as VX 101. Another photo of the same a/c here:
Some threads in this forum are old enough to be almost forgotten, but I hope this is only temporary.
In this particular thread I found a photo of a crashed B-25 with a slightly improbable:cool: explanation - the a/c landed without a tail - see here.
This is the photo in question:
I posted a...
Hope this photo wasn't posted earlier in the same thread - over the years I started forgetting my own contributions.
A staged photo from the early B-25 months in North Africa. This are men from the 12th BG - the first B-25 group in the MTO. The interesting part is that the bombs we can...
I contributed to the old thread mentioned above and one of my last sentences was, that those asymmetrical configurations were used by the P-38 fighter-bombers from the late variants - J and L. Here is a photo from a pilot's album with an earlier P-38 (probably G) and the same drop tank+1000lb...
The a/c with one vertical stripe on the tails (white for camouflaged or black for NM) are from the 820-nd Bomb. Squadron, 41-st BG. I couldn't find the exact period when these markings have been used. The other 3 squadrons in the group had either no stripes or horizontal ones.
Cheers!
I have this Italeri-kit, but in an older boxing (no PE-parts). The transparent part for the main canopy (part 38c) was wrong - it was made for a C/D variant, not for a G. There was also no transparent part for the landing light cover at all. I could never start the model and probably will never...
Thank you very much, Shinpachi!
I see now: what I remember from the movies and what the girl was saying are probably two completely different words. It's quite possible I remembered it all wrong - I watched those samurai-movies long time ago. But what brought the memory back was the face...
For that particular a/c I've never seen a source mentioning it was dark green. There was a discussion about the fuselage number 5 being green or blue, but that's what I remember.
Check here as well - this is by default my first place to search for Bf 109.
And one more thing: many sources...
Shinpachi, @ 0:02 the girl says something like "aru-aru" with a kind of scary face. What does it mean?
I am a great fan of those old Japanese samurai-movies with Toshiro Mifune. I can't quote it but I'm almost sure he uses a similar phrase almost everywhere. As a youngster and then teenager...
Looking for new models and releases I found this idea for a re-box:
https://uk.airfix.com/products/north-american-b-25cd-mitchell-a06015a
Obviously this is not the real box art but just a preparation for it. Seeing the fin-flash one can easily be fooled that this is another MTO-Mitchell from...
