Need help identifying a tail number ??4925

Phil Marchese was correct in identifying 'Dark Eyes' as being designated a B-25G1 if it was in the armament configuration shown below where the 75 mm cannon was removed and replaced by additional .50 Cals. Early B-25Gs were modified to G-12 configuration (by deleting the ventral turret, adding...

random pictures of the 42nd bombardment group, documents,

'Overdeveloped' is not 42 BG. It is a F-10 from the 18th Combat Mapping Squadron (also 13th AF along with 42 BG). Notice the camera port in the lower nose. Thanks for posting these, alternate images for many of the known 42 BG airframes included.

Need help identifying my uncle’s WWII plane

Unfortunately I can not help with identifying the airframe but I do have more images of 'Double Trouble'. From the attached we can see that it had a number of colour schemes over time (or maybe there was more than one airframe involved). It is clearly a C/D version (ignore the fact I have...

    A Private Air Force of 46 F-18's

They are getting less than the stated number as that does not take into the Eight (8) airframes that have been allocated to Museums in Australia. I don't have it in front of me but the list of where they are going has already been published. They are likely coming from the non flyable airframes...

The Sunderland - aka 'The Flying Porcupine'... where were the extra guns?

The site is suspended by the hosting company (as of about 4-6 weeks ago) as the yearly hosting fee has not been paid by the owner due to a dispute between the two parties. There is no guarantee that it will become available again which is unfortunate as there were a number of useful postings in...

    best 1/72 OS2U Kingfisher Kit?

The AZ is a reworked Pavla (Octopus) kit. Pavla got out of producing full kits, they still do many accessories. AZ brought the masters off them, and made new moulds. So no need to hunt down a Pavla kit.

#441 B-25J 'Waddy's Wanda-er' appears to be from 42 BG. Col. Waddleton commanded 42 BG, as a Capt he had earlier been commander of 69 Bomb Sqn.

The twin engined bi-plane in RAAF markings is a DH.84 not DH.89. Shape of the wings is very different on both types.

    RAAF Kittyhawk Ghost Ship

One of the 77 Sqn RAAF P-40Ks. There is a large group of nose art photos of such airframes on the AWM website (in the OG00xx series), but the bad news is that they do not have any overall images of them. 10-11 of the batch of 77 Sqn Nose arts are in the...

    Over-Armed Malta Spitfire V's

That is not correct. The Vb variant only had provision for 1 x 20mm and 2 x .303 in each wing. BUT the 'Universal Wing' of the Mk.Vc had the inboard .303 gun position moved outboard one bay compared to the Vb to enable 2 cannons to be carried along with 2 .303 MGs (and the ammo for both)...
