New nose for Dewoitine 520, Tamiya 1/48

    Hi,
....I beg your pardon for my very bad english ...
The Tamiya's kit is an Dewoitine 520 "late"(serial number>351). This version had Chauviere propeller and spinner(in the kit the spinner is too long for Chauviere, and too short for Ratier.)
The engine cowling have 3 airscoop on each side.

    One of original plan

    and the drawing (Qcad)

The early version "tête de série"(n°1 to 39, except 25) had, two airscoop+1 adjustable shutter on each side, and Ratier propeller but not the airduct compressor

The D520 Série (serial number 25, 39 to 350) two airscoop+1 adjustable shutter on each side, and Ratier propeller and the airduct compressor

    Below: Tamiya, "Early" and "Late"

Tamiya "Early version" with Ratier propeller

Very nice. Are you making those new pieces yourself? If so, how?

In the first time i molded the nose of Tamiya to obtain a base in resin F23.
I cut several checking jig from my drawing, and I sand or I coat with putty.

Below, for exemple the work D520 1/32

cut all section in plasticard, the Azur kit isn't good,

use plastilin to fill between each section

molding for obtain a piece in resin

control the piece with checking jig

    work in progress here
