I'm thinking of modelling Hugh Dows P-39L "Evelyn" but I read somewhere that this wasn't his usual P-39. Supposedly his had the letter "D" on the door not the "V" plus it had his nickname "Rowdy". Can anyone confirm any of this? If this is correct do you have any idea where I could find pictures of his actual plane?
Thanks but I already have this book and it has the same material as most of the others. I was hoping to find out if he really had another plane and he was only standing and sitting in "Evelyn" when someone took the pictures. At least this is what I read somewhere and I would like to verify if it is correct or not. So if someone can give me a link or show me a picture of his P-39 with the letter "D" on the door and "Rowdy" painted on I guess I will have go with the Evelyn scheme.
