Checking out that link....many beautiful aircraft. The Soviets have always been the best technical copycats in the world. So many of their aircraft are obviously copies of US aircraft.

Lets see, the Mig 29 comes to mind. Cross an F18 with an F15 and what do you get.... Mig 29.

Couldn't it also be partially based on German designs. I think there is one German design that is fairly similar to the Mig-29. Could be wrong though...

I think both of you are right but partially only.As far as WW2 period is concerned it is true. The Russians designers didn't have any access to the new west technology mostly. So they were forced to copy many parts of a/cs or simply whole planes etc.For instance Tu-4 (B-29).But contemporary aircrafts are designed for multitasking. Using computer applications for designing it has become obvious that the planes had to be similar each other. Simply ,the same ways of obtaining of solutions. If you look at new cars you also can notice the same situation. The differences are "hidden" inside. But outside....Aerodynamics is only one.

Okay, still interesting some of the similarities between WW2 German Aircraft and Post WWII Aircraft. Some may still be off in the future of aircraft design as far as the Germans go.
