Les: It really looks great. I just wish the folks who put out the balsa and
paper models would go into the detail they do for the plastic scale models.
I'm forced to research, ask people who know, and then come up with mod-
ifications to make a 190 or a 109 look half way real. I had to build a three
bladed prop and fabricate wire landing gear for the FW-190 I'm building.
I guess I'll have to sit and strain for decals....

The work u do Charles is beyond my scope.... Unreal stuff....

New pics.... I did in my panel lines and some light weathering.... Those are the first 3 pics....

The last one shows it after 2 coats of clear.... Now I spray the bottom when it dries and then comes the final weathering/oiling and bullet holes......

After you have finished with your decals. I would recommend that you clearcote first to avoid the decals separating if you put a bullet hole over a decal (which I highly recommend for increasing the authenticism). Also, PLEASE don't make 15 bullet holes all in a row!

Looks great Les.

Hi Les,
Well done .I like it.It is not easy to paint such a big model. But you have done it really very good. The camo patter makes the model very interesting.I also think about almost the same pattern on ICM Bf109F-4 1:48 model. When are you going to finish ?

Tada...............

Viktor Bauer was born on 19 September 1915 at Löcknitz in the Randow region of Vorpommern. He joined the Luftwaffe in 1936 with the rank of Fahnenjunker. Shortly before the invasion of Russia began, Bauer was appointed Staffelkapitän of 9./JG 3. In June 1941, he claimed 15 Russian aircraft shot down, including five Russian SB-2 twin-engine bombers claimed on 26 June for his 7th through 11th victories.

Oberleutnant Bauer was awarded the Ritterkreuz on 30 July for 36 victories.

On 22 May, he claimed four Russian I-61 fighters shot down (57–60). He claimed a further four victories on 30 June (66-69). Bauer was spectacularly successful in July 1942 recording 33 victories during the month. Five times he shot down four enemy aircraft in a day and twice recorded five victories in a day.

On 25 July, he claimed four victories (99-102). He was awarded the Eichenlaub (Nr 107) the next day.

On 9 August, he claimed his 106th victory but one day later his Bf 109 F-4 (W.Nr. 13 241) was damaged by enemy fire and Bauer wounded. He successfully carried out an emergency landing. Viktor Bauer was credited with 106 victories in approximately 400 missions. He recorded 102 of his victories over the Eastern front, including 27 Il-2 Sturmoviks.

I have tried to reproduce Bauers aircraft after his 106th victory and subsequent wounding, and the damage shown, atleast I think, represents this pretty damn good for a novice like my paintbrushin sorry ass....

Comments/suggestions/criticism is encouraged.....

And the final product looks like this:

Thanks alot fellas, I feel pretty good about the model.... My triumphant return so to speak....

Next will be an Fw 190A-8, not sure which one though... Would absolutely love to do Konrad "Pitt" Bauers crate with his Kornjark logo on the side...

Anyone have any idea if that kit exists or if theres a decal sheet that would fit the above pilots kite????

Oh, and the bullet holes, that was a great leap of faith for me, as the model looked pretty good finished and never doing it before, well....... They worked... Im very happy with the way it came out, except for the canopy glass, the mis-coloring of the landing gear, and the wrong colors on the camo job....

Still not bad for my return...
