Hello everyone, I am new here just dropped in from the Aerodrome forum, I am really glad that I have found a WW2 equivilant

looking through this thread there are some fantastic aircraft being made by the variouse members that make mine look rather mediocure.

here is one of my aircraft a Hawker Hurricane IIB in the colours of LK-A this is the only sprayed aircraft I am a brush painter as far as modelling goes, but will be investing in a airbrush for the Avro Vulcan kit I have but thats another story

I agree with Wayne there aren't many black painted Hurricanes.Is the bird your first one?

Of my current models that is my 4th Hurricane, I took a shine to that paint scheme due to the Original Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator, I have always prefferd the Hurricane over the Spitfire the one included in the game was in BoB camo as LK-A so when at a Duxford airshow I saw LK-A in black I was enraptured and a firm fan, as I am sure many of you know that paticular Hurricne crashed last year at the Shoreham Airshow in a diffrent paint scheme with the really unfortunate loss of a great pilot, so I thought I should build a model of the aircraft in happier times and as my own lilte mark of respect to the pilot and his family.

The other 3 built Hurricanes are the two Battle of Britain Mermorial Flight's pair (I have built the entire flight including the 2 Chipmunks) and a MkIID 'Tin Opener'

I certainly can, that Hurricane is the 1/72 scale Revell Hawker Hurricane IIB

So tell me, how do u get the decals to det into the panel lines like u did Wayne???

Apply them, let them set alittle, then exacto knife them into the seams, reapply some Micro Sol to get them sealed, then dry them back down????

Im gonna try it on my new Dora.... I love the look..

Ok, they are kit supplied hasegawa decals, applied and left to setttle on their own for a while...here is the kicker after an hour or so I actually use my finger nail (forefinger is best) to press the decal into the panel lines to stretch them into it.
I wait a while to let the decals glue take effect so the thing does not move.

I press lightly rolling the finger nail along the line, you don't want to move it or tear it but make it conform. You must not drag along it!!

You will also get the air out from under the decal too.

You can use a curved instrument of some kind as well if you bite your nails too much, a bread and butter knife will work, rounded edge and dull!

Now I also will cut the decal along the line and use softener as well if they won't play ball. The cutting must be very careful and after the softener DON'T TOUCH !

Also I have mentioned in the past the 'Click' pencils can do the job if sharpened like a chisel point and pressed in and drawn lightly and carefully along the decals line. Pencil needs to be at about a 30-45 degree angle to the surface This takes a bit of practice as you can tear the decal so you must be careful.

OK, so u apply the decal, get it posistioned and let it sit there... U dont press it down and apply it permantly??? Let it sit and soak on the model???

After it sits for awhile, then attempt to force it into the seam with fingernail... Once into the seam, then u cut it???
