Country: | Peart? No feeling? Listen to La Villa Strangiato. Or Cygnus X-1. Beautiful feel.

Country: | Ya may be right.
But as with any "Best of.." its a matter of personal taste. I just seem to think Bonham had more feel than Peart. Instead of just keeping time and trying to impress the music professors out there the things he could do with 3/4 timing, Bonham just moved with the music. Listen for the symbal crashes in "Kashmir". The double snare hits in "Fool In The Rain". The moving drum beats in "Out On The Tiles" or "Four Sticks".
I love Peart too. "Red Barchetta" is one of my all time favorite songs (should make an interesting movie!). But I just think Bonham had it better. |

Country: | Hey I listed him too. The Hammer. Awesome drummer. And I loved his big bass drum. Perfect sound and mic work.

Country: | As a drummer, I feel Neil Peart is both the best drummer and also the most depressing to listen to 'cause I will NEVER EVER get to be anywhere near that good!
Also, a mention of Danny Seraphine of Chicago is in order 'cause that man was GOOD.

Country: | Definitely Peart for me, with Portnoy being a close second. We had this debate a while back.

Country: | I dont like blink but even if I did I would not put him up there. He is no where near close to being the best drummer.

Country: | Surprised nobody mentioned Al Jackson, Jr. of Booker T. & the MG's and Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, Albert King, Rufus Thomas, Eddie Floyd, Johnnie Taylor and, basically, all the classic period STAX artists.
He continued his career by playing for all the early 70's Al Green hits on HI Records.
If you turn on an oldies station or a soul satellite channel, you'll hear Al Jackson, Jr. once every 25 minutes or so. |
