Country: | I did my basic training with the old FN.  I was in the second last platoon to train with it, before it was replaced by the C7 (basically an M-16A2). |

Country: | MY mate whos TA said the upgraded SA80 is still not very good. Be better with the HK G36 if its purchased as rumour has it. I found a pic of the model I used and the G36

Country: | That looks to be essentially the same model I trained with, minus the scope. In Canadian service, it was called the FN C1A1 (not to be confused with the newer FNC rifle). Semi-auto fire only. Ironically it was the Navy who used the full-auto version, the C1D, for boarding parties. I never got to fire that though. |

I would have thought the para version would have been better for the navy having a shorter barrel and folding stock
Apparently (so ive been told) the Brazilians still make the FN under licence |
