| Catching up Its been a while since I visited the forum. Its good to be back. I haven't visited the forum because I was very busy lately, at work and with my own life. First of all I managed to get my license from the first try and fortunately without paying any money. Also I managed to buy my own car, my first car. Its pretty old, its from 1991 and its called an Oltcit. Its a car produced in Romania under Citroen license. It has 60 hp and it can get to around 100 mph. It was really cheap because its missing its front protection rod and its left headlight its broken. But the mechanical parts are ok. I'm very eager to drive her through the city, but the paperwork its killing me. I don't have much free time and there is a lot to do but fortunately I managed to do most of the paperwork with just a few more to do. I attached some pictures with the car, I hope you like it

| "Shooter" ![]() | Congrats. As long as it gets you from point a to point b, that's all that matters. I used to buy new cars, but now, I drive them until the wheels fall off.

| Congrats on the license and, more so, the car. It's like I always say........a good car is one that starts and gets you where your going. And welcome back as well.

| I wish people around here would think like that. For some unknown reason romanians are very proud, too proud actually. The buy cars that they cannot afford, I've seen a lot of them driving BMW and Mercedes and they live in dumps. Here its all about the image, you might poor as hell but you must look like you are rich or at least thats what they think. But I'm not like that, I may be driving a heap of a car but at least I sleep easy at night knowing that I do not own money to a bank.

| I'm afraid that mentality is all to alive and well in the US as well. I just require a vehicle that starts when asked, runs reliably, and gets me and all my stuff to where I want to go and back. I have also decided I will never purchase a brand new car ever again in my lifetime, depreciate way too fast and cost way too much. I'll buy one that is 4-6 years old or so from now on. Still should have many good miles on them and at a fraction of the price as new. Congrats on the new auto.

| Congrats man! There is nothing wrong with owning an old car. Older cars usually were built to last anyhow. Hell my Jeep Grand Cherokee is a 95...

| Best of luck with your car, hope you have many happy miles with it. Service it regularly and you'll have it for years. I'm still driving a 96 mitsubishi 4x4.

| I'm with everyone here, Konigstiger. It doesn't matter what the car is, as long as it does the job, and you're happy with it. The other people will be paying so much for theirs they probably can't afford to use it properly. Seems like there's a few of us in the same boat, mine's a '95 Jeep Cherokee, which replaced a '88 Range Rover, which in turn replaced a '78 Land Rover. Last time I had a new car it was a company car. Had more trouble with all the new cars than any other car I've owned or used. Enjoy it, and well done on the licence and the car. |
