| Erik Hazelhoff Roefsema (DFC) died Dutch warhero Erik Hazelhoff Roefsema better known as Soldaat van Oranje (Soldier of Orange) died. He was a student at the University of Leiden when the war broke out in 1940. After several resistance acts and German imprisonment, he fled to the UK in 1941. During his time in England he made several landings on the dutch coast to bring radio's to the dutch resistance and get people out.
Later he became a pilot in 139th squadron, flying 72 Pathfinder missions on Mosquito's. At the end of the war he was aide the camp of Queen Wilhelmina.
Hazelhoff Roefsema died in his bed, last friday aged 90.
