| Senior Member | French plane ploughs into lorry No-one on board the plane was hurt. The Fokker 100 aircraft was taking off from Pau in south-west France on a flight to the capital, Paris. The incident happened after a bird flew into one of the engines, the Transport Ministry said. Those on board the Regional Airlines plane were evacuated, and were shocked but unhurt, officials said. The lorry involved was a public works vehicle which was travelling on a road around the airport, the ministry said. The aircraft came to a halt several hundred metres after hitting the lorry. An inquiry into the accident is under way. (source BBC News)

| Unfortunate. But unless both engines were affected by a flock, single engine operation is part of the type certification of the aircraft and should have been safe to continue. Therefore, barring any other equipment failures, the likelihood of pilot error resulting from making a decision to abort post Vr is at least partially to blame. Armchair investigation services.
